Klein Vision | Flying Car (The Pterodactyl) | 2023
A New Era of flying car has started, My interest toward car’s pulled me to write this blog on Airborne car (Klein Vision), I digged and found more about the Flying Car’s and Klein Vision, The unique and first car which converts from Aircraft to Roadable car and from Roadable car to Aircraft & can go on the road with other car’s, The company (Klein) is Founded by Stefan Klein.
Their are many cars which were made but not that much compact and not good for normal roads, Lets know more about the car’s which were made first (The Beginning Of Flying Car’s):-

First 5 Flying Car’s Made
The others are not that compact yet, like the Klein Vision.
1. Curtiss Autoplane | 1917
The First Flying car was invented in 1917, By Glenn Curtiss and was named as Curtiss Autoplane. There were many problems like the Curtiss Autoplane was capable but never achieved full flight after lifting off the ground, Although it was the first attempt of roadable aircraft with Detachable wings which was made in United States.
2. Skroback Roadable Airplane | 1925
This Second was based on making a Roadable Airplane, In 1925 a Multiplane named Skroback Roadable Airplane was invented, This Prototype has fixed wings and has a reasonable width for driving, It’s length of wings has many surfaces which makes it fly and to drive, this Airplane was designed and developed by taking the inspiration from French Designs Henri Mignet’s Flying Flea, Frank E. Skroback Invented the Skroback Roadable Airplane In United States.
3. Autogiro Company of America AC-35 | 1935
A Successfully tested Roadable Aircraft was started in 1935 having a capacity of 2 with cruise speed of 121 km/h | 75 mph by AC-35 of United States, This Autogiro Roadable aircraft didn’t came to production & again in 1960s it was developed but this attempt of making non roadable aircraft failed because of the company failure.
4. Waterman Arrowbile | 1935
A Tailless Folding wings Roadable Aircraft was invented in 1935 by Waldo Waterman In United States & First Flight was on 21 February 1937, A Prototype which was the only one but it didn’t made much attraction to their customers so only 5 units were made were 4 Units were Arrowbile and 1 was Aerobile, One more was Arrowplane but it’s kind was different (Non Roadable).
5. Hafner Rotabuggy | 1942
Also named as Malcolm Rotaplane started in 1942, A Designer of Airbone Forces Experimental Establishment (AFEE) Raoul Hafner made the design and was built by R.Malcolm & Company in United Kingdom(UK), First Flight Of Hafner Rotabuggy was in 1943, The main moto of making the Hafner Rotabuggy was to air-dropping off-road vehicles.
History Of Klein Vision.
Stefan Klein (Founder & CEO Of Klein Vision) was first working with AeroMobil and than in 2016 he left and in 2017 he started his own company Klein with his friend Anton Zajac he designed the AIRCAR,
Stefan Klein graduation was from Slovak University of Technology (1983), He gave his 20 years in making his dream come true first he made his Aeromobil l in 1989 after his diploma thesis of Aeromobil l, And Later he reveled another having a code name AM2 (Aeromobil ll) which was based on taking off and transforming.
Later after he his made company Klein Vision, The project Aircar begin from 2017 and he made 12 new patents of converting the Roadable car to Aircraft and from Aircraft to Roadable car, And In October 2019 At Nitra Airport the test of AIRCAR was Successful.
Design & Aerodynamics
This Aircar Is designed in such a way, After understanding the work done by the Aircar like for the Aerodynamics it is styled & designed like a sports car having two seats, The Four large wheels which gave around 30 to 40 % of total lift to the Aircar.
For the safety a pusher propeller is permanently installed in between the fuselage and tail for the parachute and for the flight, Front wheels are connected with the foldable wings and Rear one are connected with the tailbooms carrying a high tail (Extendable).
While driving on the road a downforce is created from the retracted surface of the tail as same as to the conventional rear aerofoils, For the transformation from Roadable to Aircraft their are Around 20 programmable servo motors which make this transition possible within 2 minute 15 seconds.
Body & Dimensions
Klein Vision Aircar monocoque is made up of steel subframes with carbon fibre composite that makes it strong and more durable,
The Dimensions of this Aircar is-
- Length – 5,200 mm | 205 in,
- Width – 1,927 mm | 75.9 in,
- Weight – 1,100 KG | 2,400 lb.
Engine & Performance
Engine is from BMW 1.6 litre car engine which gives an output of 139 HP | 104 KW runs on normal petrol or even gasoline, But the next pre production Klein Vision Aircar will have a 300 HP | 220 KW .
After Having a 300 meters or 980 ft run with a Speed of – 120 Km/h | 75 MPH Klein Vision AIRCAR can takes off or lift in the Air.
Cruising Speed Of Klein Vision AIRCAR – 170 KM/H | 105.6 MPH.
Speed of Transforming From Car To Aircraft – 2 Minute 15 Seconds.
Range & Height – 1,000 KM | 620 Miles At Height Of 8,200 feet | 2,500 Meter.
The First Run
In October 2019 At Nitra Airport It was Tested Successfully And Later flew on 22 October 2020 and than Klein Vision Aircar Again flew in july 2021 a 35 mile flight From Nitra Airport to Bratislava Airport.
Under process for receiving the flight certification for it’s sales.
